the cotton balmain tee you see above will cost you (assuming you are interested) $1625.
now, let me start by saying that i am in no way opposed to luxury brands, and have no problem with the extreme price tag that comes along with designer gear. however, with that price tag, i expect to see a higher level of quality, or, failing that, a higher level of design, originality, exclusivity, etc., that cannot be found elsewhere with a more reasonable number attached. some will argue that this is not always the case, and they may very well be correct, but i think this is the first time i have fallen on this side of the argument. this is something that has been itching at me for a while now with the  (bedazzled) zombie-like re-emergence of the balmain label, but this tee (from net-a-porter, if you must know) really sent me over the edge. to quote laia of geometric sleep-- this is not high fashion. military, shredded stuff, skinny denim, blah, blah, this is not a new concept- we have seen and will continue to see variations on this forever. to see it glittered up and astronomically priced strikes me as an insult to those who have the means to buy it. am i poking at balmain because i'm not a fan? sure. my opinion: pay for design. want a shredded military tee? go to your local army surplus store. ok, enough of that. i'll stop being a jerk and get back to posting the expensive stuff i WANT to buy.
