speaking of magic...
so, my skin got really dry and crazy when i moved to new york, totally peely and gross. i had heard about this stuff somewhere and thought, why not give it a go? initially i was using it as body moisturizer, but it is a bit intense-- super greasy and doesn't absorb quickly so you wouldn't really want to go in public after applying. then i was informed that it was meant for your face (still not sure i believe that), so i started mixing it with my night time face cream. TOTALLY MAGIC. my skin is really soft, no longer a dry mess, and it didn't make me break out. i endorse this product. and as an added plus, we sell it at my place of employment. awesome.

new york adventure account #2 (aka the day i lost my mind)
first off, let me say this lest you think i have come to new york with no ambitions beyond roaming around and wasting money: my store opening starts wednesday, after which i will have minimal time to do anything PLUS the apartment construction makes me want to spend as little time at home as possible.
today i decided to venture into manhattan in the hopes of finding some affordable cute shoes and a sweater or two at topshop. here's what i did instead:
i got off the train at spring street and realized that i was super close to creatures of comfort.

better check it out, right? it is one of my check-everyday websites. the store itself is really cute and spacious. the clothes/shoes/jewelry are amazing and out of my price range. the sales dude was precious and very friendly. btw, i still am surprised to see guards at boutiques like this. i may have made a purchase. anyway, on to opening ceremony...
they have added another store next to the original (see stairs) which houses mostly alexander wang and accessories from what i can gather. i generally prefer their house brand to the labels they carry in the store (maybe because i can come closer to affording them?). this is another place i frequent online. they use their employees as models on their website, so every time i go in i have a "hey, i know you" minute. that said, there is a really cute boy modeling mens stuff who i have yet to run into, but would very much like to know. anyways, i might have made a purchase here as well.
at this point, i decided that i was being a ridiculous person and should probably head back to the train.
instead, i went to the no.6 store.
this is the home of those awesome clogs. you know, these:
and these:
and these:
while i was browsing around, i eavesdropped (can't help it) on kirsten dunst's assistant pulling some clothes for her as she is in town for a movie premiere. she pulled a canvas-y scarf and a loose-knit mohair sweater while i was there. i could possibly have made a purchase. back to brooklyn.
for reasons i'd rather not disclose, i decided to venture over to roebling tea room for some tea and lunch/dinner (what do you call a meal at 3:00?).
this place was really cute and cozy despite the dude behind the bar with a nasty look on his face. the waitress was nice, and my food was tasty. not super expensive either.
after that, the story goes drastically downhill because i decided to walk around a bit and got really lost in an area that was weird and scary. once i finally figured out where i was and started walking, i was accompanied almost the whole 20 minute (!!!) trek home by a man in shorts (it's cold!) singing some sort of gospel hymn. the end. lets hope i can make rent.
